Montreal based artist Nicolas Hooper will be exhibiting new sculptures in the Ballroom Gallery at the Khyber from March 5th to April 2nd, 1996. This work will utilize the gallery in an unique way, by integrating the architecture of the room into the artist's work.
Hooper is currently developing a series of sculptures which involve varying sizes and shapes of constructed sacs, controlled through mechanisms which inflate and deflate them. As he writes, "The sacs can be viewed as bodies; some a parasitic (or one might say sustaining) relationship with the surrounding architecture, others may constrained by it, or perhaps the relationship is ambivalent."
